Holiday itinerary
Day 1 UK to Rome - Fly to Italy’s capital and a transfer to the 3* Hotel Torre Rossa Park (or similar) on the city’s outskirts for dinner and a chance to meet fellow travellers. (D)
Day 2 Rome - A full day to explore the Eternal City, with an included guided tour by coach as an introduction. The rest of the day is yours to see the endless sights of this wonderfully romantic city, including the Vatican, the huge Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, where you can toss in a coin for good luck. (B,D)
Day 3 Rome to Sorrento - A morning visit to the Castelli Romani, or ‘castles of Rome’, once the country retreat of wealthy Romans, is followed by a trip to the village of Castel Gandolfo, home of the Pope’s summer residence. We then head to Sorrento, one of Italy’s best holiday resorts, with its pretty marina, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic shopping for four nights at the 3* Hotel Tirennia (or similar). The hotel also offers a wonderful rooftop terrace where you can relax with a refreshing drink and soak up the sunshine. (B,D)
Day 4 Pompeii and Vesuvius - The eruption of Vesuvius in AD79 engulfed Pompeii in a cloud of ash and lava, creating the finest monument and most complete record of everyday life in the Roman Empire to be found anywhere. A guided tour takes you to the mosaics, shops, villas, theatres and streets of this city, before a visit to the mighty volcano itself that broods mightily over the Bay of Naples. N.B. - Entrance fees for Pompeii and Vesuvius are not included, however, discounts may apply. (B,D)
Day 5 Sorrento - A free day to relax and in stylish Sorrento or to join an optional excursion to the Emerald Isle of Capri. Entertainment is provided this evening at a traditional Neapolitan show in the heart of Sorrento. (B,D)
Day 6 The Amalfi Drive - A once in a lifetime experience driving along the magnificent Amalfi coastline. Dramatic twists and turns and spectacular scenery awaits! We enjoy a visit to the town of Amalfi where an optional boat trip (weather permitting) fives the opportunity to enjoy the views from anothter angle. (B.D)
Day 7 Sorrento to Rome - A leisurely drive back to Rome, pausing at historic Montecassino where we pay tribute to those who fell during the historic battle. We reach our 3* Hotel Torre Rossa (or similar) for an overnight stay. (B,D)
Day 8 Rome to UK - Transfers to the airport and flights back to the UK. (B)
