Excursions and visits
Lucca and Pisa (optional). Lucca is one of Italy’s finest medieval towns and home to the Cathedral of San Martino and the Piazza Napoleone. We see the world famous town of Pisa in the afternoon.
Siena (optional, included on Silver Service). The Gothic ‘city of the blessed Virgins’ is centred on the ‘red’ Piazza del Campo. We see the famous cathedral, the Sala del Pellegrinaio, and admire the view from the Facciatone, or ‘big facade’.
Florence (included). The capital of Tuscany contributed much to the cultural development of Europe. Our optional guided sightseeing tour visits the Bargello Museum and the Piazza della Signoria.
San Gimignano (optional). With its famous skyline dominated by thirteen towers, San Gimignano is a scenic delight. Explore the piazzas for great shopping try the Via San Giovanni. We are in the heart of a superb wine-producing area and during the day you can taste the local specialities at a winetasting.
Your hotel
You will stay for five nights at the 4-star Grand Hotel Plaza & Locanda Maggiore in Montecatini Terme. Situated only a short stroll from the centre of this spa town, the hotel has a lounge, restaurant, bar, lift and outdoor swimming pool (seasonal). All bedrooms have T.V., telephone, safe, air-conditioning and hairdryer. The hotel was once the home of Giuseppe Verdi and it was here that he composed some of his masterpieces.
