Excursions and visits
Innsbruck (included); Sightseeing Tour (optional, included on Silver Service). Innsbruck came to prominence in the 15th century, when the Emperor Maximilian based his imperial court here. Many fine buildings are a testament to the city’s regal past, including the famous Golden Roof and the Hofburg Palace, whilst Maria Theresien Street is also a must. Our sightseeing tour takes in these famous sights, and also the Olympic Ice Stadium, the Berg Isel ski jump and the interior of the Wilten Basilica, said to be the most beautiful church of its kind in the Tirol.
Gerlos Pass, Krimml Falls and Kitzbühel (optional). A day of unforgettable scenery as your climb out of the Inn and Ziller Valley's ofer the Gerols Pass to Krimml Falls. The magnificent falls, widely regarded as some of the best in Europe descent over three mighty stages. Continue to the chic ski resort of Kitzbühel. Enjoy a stroll around the old town, or time permitting, maybe take a cable car ride (optional) up the Hahnenkamm Mountain.
Salzburg (included); Guided Walking Tour (optional). One of the most beautiful cities in Austria, Salzburg offers lovely squares and medieval lanes, Gothic churches and quaint cafés. It is also famed as the setting for ‘The Sound of Music’. An optional guided walking tour is a wonderful way to discover this city, with sights featured in the film, along with many other attractions.
St. Johann and Berchesdagen (included); Eagle's Nest (optional). Visit to the picturesque resort of Sankt Johann in Tirol, then cross the border into Germany to visit Berchesgaden in a superb setting in the Bavarian Alps. Why not join a visit to the Eagle's Nest, dramatically perched on a mountain top, the famed location of Hitler's alpine hideaway.
Achensee & the Ziller Valley (optional). We travel to Lake Achensee, and spend the morning exploring the Alpine surroundings, before continuing to the resort of Mayrhofen, nestling at the end of the Ziller Valley.
Your hotels
You’ll stay for six nights at the 3-star Gasthof Ascherwirt in Brandenberg in the Austrian Tyrol. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and a lift, and all bedrooms have T.V. and telephone. The hotel is actually comprised by two buildings, which are connected by an internal walkway.
Overnight stays in Belgium are in city-style hotels.
