Excursions and visits
Berlin (included). Explore this historic city with a guide on our optional Berlin sightseeing tour, which includes the Berlin Cathedral, Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Wall. With many large department stores, Berlin is a shopper’s haven.
Warsaw (included).
Nearly destroyed in WWII, yet restored in under 13 years, Poland’s pretty capital is a gem! Our optional guided sightseeing tour, (included on Silver Service) takes in the castles, monuments and cathedrals at the heart of this robust nation.
Jasna Gora and Auschwitz (included).
A fascinating trip to the 4th-century Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora and its famous ‘Black Madonna’. Afterwards, we travel to Auschwitz Concentration Camp for a remembrance visit.
Krakow with Guided Sightseeing Tour (included). Krakow’s Old Town is placed on the UNESCO list of protected World Historic Sites on account of its fabulous architecture. This afternoon, join our optional visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mines, where salt mining has continued since the Middle Ages.
Budapest (included). A full day to discover the Hungarian capital at leisure. Our optional sightseeing tour (included on Silver Service) captures many sights, beginning with a drive to Gellért Hill, then over the famous Chain Bridge and onto the Pest district, ending at the Buda castle district. Take a relaxing lunch cruise (optional) on the majestic ‘blue’ Danube to enjoy the great scenery.
Vienna (included). We arrive in Vienna in the early afternoon. Our optional guided tour will introduce the principal sights, including the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament building and the City Hall. We see the house where Johann Strauss composed the Blue Danube Waltz, before crossing the Danube to see the United Nations complex. We then pass the famous Prater Wheel before returning to the centre. Tonight, take in an optional Mozart concert with the Salon Orchestra of Vienna.
Prague with Guided Sightseeing Tour (included). Prague is affectionately known as the ‘Golden Town’ on account of its historic architecture, including cathedrals, gold-tipped towers, church domes and the bridges spanning the majestic Vltava River. Our guided walking tour introduces the splendid architecture of Prague Old Town, the world’s largest UNESCO monument. We learn about the city’s long rich history and see highlights including the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square.
Your hotels
You’ll stay for two nights at the 3-star Ramada Globus in Berlin; two nights at the 3-star Hotel MDM in Warsaw; two nights at the 3-star Express by Holiday Inn in Krakow; two nights at the 4-star Hotel Budapest in Budapest; overnight at the 3-star Hotel Wienerwaldhof, or similar, in the Vienna Woods area, to the west of Vienna; and two nights at the 3-star Ibis Karlin in Prague. Overnight stays in Belgium are in city-style hotels.
Flying return from only £49 extra
If you prefer, you can choose to travel by air. Take a ‘flying start’ and join the tour directly in Berlin on day 2, and/or choose a ‘flying return’ departing for home from Prague on day 13. Flights are to Berlin returning from Prague. Please call for full details of flights/prices.
